http://www.pokerhand.org/?782288

The only 2 cards he can have that beat me are JK and KK and he had K's, sad thing is he never had any idea how bad a shape he was in, i think i played it pretty perfectly. Not sure about the re-raise on the river because obviously it went wrong but there are only 2 hands that can beat me.

He had a 4.5% to hit and he did. At least it was smallish stakes and i was multi tabling small ammounts.

And then....

Dealer: alex00r has a flush, Ace high
Dealer: Game #8208312141: JewAdam wins pot ($1319.50) with a straight flush, Nine to King

Bankroll: $800

Time to rebuild

Deposited $600 and took it upto $1000, then down again to about $800 on 5/10 then decided playing 5/10 with my whole bankroll was a bit silly so moved it onto 2 tables of 2/4.

Just going to slowly grind it out over a few days. I think i have to forget about how much i make last week. It was really stupid of me to try and double up my last $2700. Thats still tons of money and i could have easily built that back up!

Still $300 up overall i soppose.

*edit*

Remembered i had $150 still on ladbrokes so played 1/2 for about 20mins till i got to $250 then moved to a 2/4 and found a fish that was a real calling station. Made a few straights and flushes and got him to call down my big river bets with top pair etc and i finish on $900.

Stars i havn't made too much more, im upto $1300 now

Bankroll: $2200

Broke: fuck!

Lost so badly last 2 days that i decided to put it all on 25/50, lost going all-in with 99 losing to TJ pairing the T's

back to grinding.

fuck.

Bankroll: $0

My lowest point

Must play tight and not make stupid mistakes!!

Pushed all-in on a 99A6 board with AK, got called with AQ, river is a Q, brutal.
Might need to move down a level and rebuild, i hope not though.

Bankroll: $3433

Crawling back

Tuesday, 30 January 2007

Slapped all of my bankroll over 3 tables and started playing tight super aggressive.

Been doing ok apart from the few bad calls with top pair bad kicker etc.

This one hand did my bankroll a huge favour mind you.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?779570

Pretty bad time for that guy to bluff me after i flopped a set ;D
So now im back upto $7100 after being as low as $5000, and as high as $11,500 today.

Bankroll: $7101

Bankroll pretty much destroyed!

I've just gotta soo many coolers and bad beats in a row its untrue.

Lost $1600 going all in with aces pre-flop and getting called by K's and him hitting AK on flop.
And god knows what else i lost things to!!

Need my bankroll up high again aaarrgh!!
Think what i did wrong was play 6max because there were no full-ring games going on, i hate 6 max!!

decided to take out $1k so now my roll is purely profit.

Bankroll: $5818

Dropped $2k in 1 hand :/

So i raised with QQ and get called by 57 !! Flop comes 558 and all the money is in by the turn.

Think thats first time i'v lost a hole buy-in at a high level and it had to be at $10/$20 too :(

Ohh well im back to where i started for the day hehe

*edit*
Ammusing hand where my aces full got called down on the river by K high hehe

http://www.pokerhand.org/?779207

Bankroll: $9511

Grr suckouts!

Well only 1 suckout and he he a low stack so it didnt hurt me as much but still lost a $1k pot :/

He raises 3times to $30, i have KK so make it $90, he pushes all-in for $430 more and i call knowing im in a good position.

Flop brings an ace and i sigh and hope he doesnt have AK, turn is a 6 and river is a 2.
He shows 22!!

So i have a go at him telling him that i re-raise him he should know he's dominated (as i play pretty tight aggressive, only pairs and big aces/kings)

But anyway i still finished with a profit of $500 over the two 5/10's and the single 10/20 i was playing on.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?778645

Bankroll: $11,500

Roll @ +$11k

Just playing a 6handed 5/10 game and im upto $3150 atm puting my bankroll upto $11,000!!

So thats 8 days its taken to make $9,000, over $1k/day!! and even then the first 4 days i was just playing 1/2 and some 2/4!

Lets hope it carriys on like this.

Yesterday i also decided to play a few tourneys, the $200 sunday warmup, a $55+R, a $3+R sattelite and the $100 NL. I did ok in all of them i soppose getting pretty deep but not cashing in any, still a good experience and im learning to play a lot tighter and with a lot more patience.

Bankroll: $11,009

Huge cash game swings

Monday, 29 January 2007

Was playing pretty solid poker for 4 or 5 hours then i started to get tired and leaked a lot of money, a stack on 1 of my tables was pretty big but the rest were dying! I closed 1 table down and just played 3 which seemed to help, suddenly i was back up from about $800ish on each table to around $1200/1400.

Then 1 table i blew up at, he a stack of about $1600 and managed to bluff off just under $1000 on a flush draw with an ace on the board, the wrong flush hit and i bet $200 with J high on the river. He called with a set of aces, oops.

After that i picked up a few hands that hit the flop nicely, made broadway with AT and got re-raised all in by top 2 pair, sweet :)

Anyway i stopped now after being up (not the most, but some atleast).

*Note* Made 6,000fpp's today, that seems a lot for one day!!
*Edit* Maybe its cos i'v played a combined 25hours :S i should have breaks!!

Bankroll: $8443

Brutal hand to end the day :/

Well made it upto $8.5k today and decided to call it a day, i was playing 2 5/10 tables and 1 3/6 so i shut down the 5/10 and limped into a multi-way pot with a suited ace.

The flop comes J2A (two clubs, i have 2 also) so im liking this. As im UTG i check hoping to re-raise someone. Everyone checks round, turn comes the K or clubs, perfect, i have the nuts so i lead out with a small be so as not to scare anyone away and bet $12, all but 1 fold and i get re-raised to $42. I think about re-raising him but he would most likely fold as the only high clubs available are Q, T and 9.

The river comes Q of clubs, i think to myself, dam i nearly got a royal flush and put in a nice value bet hoping to get paid off, i get raised!! Whats this? Is he trying to bluff me? Lets make sure he knows who has the Ace and re-raise him.

I call his all-in instantly and try to work out why i havn't won, ohh 9T of clubs :/ - guess i shoulda re-raised that turn (even though i woulda just got sucked out when he made his bad call.... which he would.)

Hand is here: http://www.pokerhand.org/?775333

Im just glad that it wasn't on the 5/10 tables where i had about $2500 infront of me! Probably the worst beat i've ever taken :<

Bankroll: $7924

Tournament day

So today apart from donking off a bunch of money on cash games i also spent it on tournaments.

I cashed 7th in a $10 with 500people in for about $130ish i think and i have just finished playing the Sunday warmup after getting sucked out on with 99 vs 77 (99 was the best hand i got all game!! uptill then it was 55) I was in the tourney for 3 hours and played 17 hands total, i just never had ANY 1/2 decent cards even to steal with.

Anyway i came 515th out of 1810 in the warmup so i soppose it was an ok result for my first tournament with a decent buy-in.

During this post i made back the $2000 i was down today - phew, took a large pot with a valuebet bluff with 4 spades on the board and made some nice money cracking AA with KK (3 re-raises and i was commited) said in chat i have to call but u got me, flopped a K.

Might decide to play the Sunday million in 45mins but $530 is a huge buy-in so still a bit unsure.

Bankroll: $7540

HUGE hand

http://www.pokerhand.org/?773178

When the river jack landed my heart dropped and i instantly felt sick! was so releaved when he flipped over his hand though. It was the guy's first hand after sitting down at the table too, he even posted his blind in late position and probably only called my raise because of it!

*edit* leaked some chips, mainly to shortstacks and went from $8248 to $7727, not the end of the world.

Bankroll: $7727

20" LCD

So i spent my fpp's just now on the Samsung 20" Monitor.

So just checking Poker Tracker it says iv spent $2,500 on rake so at a rackback site thats 2,500 * 0.27 = $675 eek now thats a lot for a 20" LCD!! I think there selling them at overclockers for £220 ($440) and i bet US players could pick one up a lot cheaper than that!

Bankroll: $7745

No shortage of Aces!

Got dealt AA twice in a row playing 5/10 just earlier, first time i re-raised his UTG $40 raise to $140 and got flat called, flopped an ace so assumed he didnt have one and bet small. He called and them muched when i bet $160 on the river.

I tell him i wished he had an ace so all him money would be mine on the flop. The next hand i get AA!! i did exactly the same re-raising a different guy upto $140 and the flop is low, he bets into me and i call, he check calls a decent sized bet on the turn so we both check off the river, he had JJ.

Get AA again on my other table, both blinds call my $30 raise, flop comes 933 (2 spades) and i bet pot sized. 1 caller. Turn is another 3, so im thinking its killed my action if he's on the draw, i bet smaller and get called. Thinking to myself i hope he's full too but not with 99 :) so bet a decent ammount on the river and get called down by TT, he probably lost the least he could there so wp to him.

Also i played a bit of .50/1 PLO8 and made a quick $32 in 20mins.
100fpp's to go till my monitor :)

Bankroll: $7000

How about this for a hand!!

Currently playing in the $11 NL holdem tourney on stars with 120players remaing im about mid way up, but check this hand.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?772512

how dare he try and bet me out of the pot ;D

ok other people call down with anything too :|
just got knocked out after limping for $600 with AQ, folded round to SB who thinks for a while and makes it $3600, BB folds and i go all in for $7000. He calls with 79o and i smile, flop brings a 9 and river another 9 and im out. meh..

ohh and i lost all $800 of my money on full tilt after trying a bluff then playing shortstack badly pushing on top pair, might top it up some other time but enjoying stars at the moment.

Also only 800fpp's left on stars till i can get the 20" Samsung LCD!! :D

Bankroll: $6420

It's all about JJ

Playing 2 games of 5/10 on pokerstars and full tilt.

So the full tilt game i start on $500 which is all my money on full tilt, double up after about 40mins after getting a suckout vs a complete fish who pushes all-in with anything.
I get dealt KK and the flop comes 4JT i put in a tiny underbet and of corse he raises about pot, i re-raise him all-in and he calls quickly with top 2 pair, river pairs the 4 and i have the better 2 pair.

Leaked most of that off now and on about $760 on fulltilt.

Star i pick up JJ and raise 4x 2 callers including the SB. Flop is J2A so i put in a small bet hoping some1 has an ace, other person folds and SB raises me up, i reraise a decent ammount and he flat call (2 hearts on the board). Now a non heart king comes on the turn so i pray he has AK and push all in for $650 more into a $400 pot. He thinks and calls showing 22, ouch!

http://www.pokerhand.org/?772085

Few hands later i pick up JJ again and call a 4x raise, flop comes 773 (2 clubs) he bets out a recent ammount again and i flat call, turn comes a J, GIN! he bets out a large ammount, im putting him on a big pair here maybe QQ, but also maybe TT or 99. I think for a while and probably make the wrong move and re-raise, he thinks for a while and folds.
If i'd have given him a free card i possably could have made a bit more money maybe if he did have AcKc but then again if a Q rivers and he moves all-in i make a scary call and might lose all my money.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?772094

maybe 2 hands later with the same guy i pick up 33 and decide to call his early position 4x raise again, flop 734, he leads out for $70, i make it $160, he comes over the top and makes it $430 so i instantly throw in the 4th raise to $710, he uses up all his time thinking and folds, im guessing AA or KK here but he may have thought he was drawing nearly dead to runner runner.

Moving on up!!

Friday, 26 January 2007

Ok so last night i went to Nottingham and went out to a club with some m8's... got pretty drunk and came home to play some poker ;D

Before i left, as you can see from the post below i was in a pretty dire state and was most pissed off with all the suckouts.

Speaking to joe in the car he told me i should try a higher limit as iv got the bankroll to do it.
So last night i logged on looking to play some 3/6 but there were no games at all on Stars so i looked for other games and found a $5/$10 game going and sat down with $600.

First hand i played i lost $100 just raising and putting in a continuation bet. Right then i told myself to play tight!
It wasn't really too hard to play tight for me, sat there scared whenever anyone put in a raise.

I soon doubled up with a full house after re-raising all in with 6648 on the board holding 88 and getting called down by 67.

More tight play......

Another double up........ another player knocked out.......

So anyway you get the idea, i did pretty well and am still playing with $2,300 on the table (i peaked at $3,200).
I also started playing on full tilt a bit, the 2/4 game i played in was extremely easy playing tight and i soon made $200 and then lost my profit in a stupid big pot when i called somebody down with top pair.

All in all a very good session, heres a few hands:

Bad beats and losing spree's

So many bad beats and losses recently.

When i first started playing 2/4 i thought the players were actually good. I lost $400 holding KK when i put someone all in on a board of QJ4 to which he quickly called with Q9 !!! .... and then caught a Q on the turn of corse.

Anought bad pot where i went all in with top pair top kicker on a board with 2 hearts (all-in for over 3 times the pot) i get called by a fish with an inside straight draw and flush draw (getting nowhere near the odds to call!!!) and lost another $400 there.

Made a great laydown where i flopped 2 pair on an all hearts board with no big re-raises before the river. The river would made me a full house mind you turns out one guy had a K high flush and the other re-raised him a crazy ammount with a T high flush and got him to fold.

I woulda struggled with a call there with 2's full but probably made it and won a pot of about $750. too bad.

And you cant really bluff those medium stacks. A king flopped as top card, he underbet the pot, i re-raised him on the bluff. he takes ages and finally calls. Turn comes a king, i put him all in for $160ish and he calls instantly with QQ!! grrr is that just me who thinks it was a bad call on his part? i had A high btw.

On a good note i won a $20 rebuy sattellite yesterday for the sunday million ($530 buy-in) tourney and i have about 100fpp's left to reach Platinum Star and get a free 20" monitor.

Bankroll: $2527 (+530 t$)

Note to self

Wednesday, 24 January 2007

  1. Don't play drunk
  2. Dont play away from home.
  3. Don't decide to goto to lower limits and just go all in every hand.
  4. Don't risk busting outa the $11 Stars rebuy 15 places from the money with a decent chipstack with TT and a J on the board.
important lessons

-$1000 down. Bad alex!

Few nice pots

Tuesday, 23 January 2007

Really enjoying playing 2/4 dont think iv had a losing session yet, went down about $200 on 1 table just now but got it back to just $50 down in the end, just $5 up on the other table and the 3rd table i made $414 :] - 370 hands total.

Just 2,000 more FPP's to get on PokerStars till i reach Platinum Star although i dont know what i wanna spend my fpp's on :s might save for the Canon EOS, got about 21k atm.

Poker Stats

Monday, 22 January 2007

To keep track of all my poker results i use a program called StatKing.

I purchased this when i first started playing poker as i wanted to keep track of records and was going to make a spreadsheet. I got pointed towards this program on a poker forum (thepokerbay) and installed the free trail and i have to say i was so impressed with it!

So if you don't have anyway of keeping records id recommend it.
I also use Poker Tracker and Poker Ace HUD but mainly to help me ingame and see where i made mistakes.

Anyway getting to the point; there is a section called 'Stat sheet' which lists your stats and im averaging $1600 per week profit so im gonna try and keep up the pace making $250/$300 a day and hopefully watch my bankroll grow nicely :D

If all goes well i will have made around $80k by this time next year! That sounds pretty crazy to me just playing 1/2 and maybe 2/4.

Moving upto $2/$4

Started playing a bit of 2/4 after going up and down 300 each way on 1/2 and finishing about even.

Anyway i did pretty well again making a nice $1557 in 320 hands. Took down a nice pot early on which helped;

http://www.pokerhand.org/?757783

So he tried bluffing at the end, who knows what he had, maybe a set, most likely 2 pair but no J :)

And then some1 else tries to bluff me later on:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?758069

I dont know if this was a good call, i really didnt know what to do at the time but i dont usually fold hands like that in fear of an overpair or a set. guess it worked out anyway and i made a lotta money from it.

Think i might try moving upto 2/4 as i find it a lot easier to play at and i think iv got the bankroll to do it now. On another note i'v more than doubled my bankroll in 2 days - im pretty impressed with myself there!

Bankroll: $4497

Ups and downs

Just been 3 tabling 1/2 whie watching joe play a s&g. Did pretty well early on, got to about $350 up over the 3 tables, made some nice bluff value bets that got me some big pots ;D

Ran into a few hands i just couldn't get away from though. Not huge pots but still enuf to knock me back a bit, flopping top 2 pair with 2 diamonds on the board and re-raising quite big only to see runner runner diamond. I put a 1/3rd size pot bet out on the river only to get raised aout the size of the pot and not holding a diamond. He showed AQ (just top pair) with no diamond which i soppose was the only play he could make to win the pot but was pretty risky on his part.

Even after all that i quit while i was ahead and finished with $165 more than i started with.

Bankroll: $2986

People overrating AK!

Sunday, 21 January 2007

its happened so many times in past few days when iv raised only to be re-raise all in and thrown away my two 9's or J's and the raiser shows AK.

Just now i had 77 and made it $6 to go under the gun. 3 callers and the BB who is shortstacked moves all-in for $30 or so. I call and the person after me imediatly goes all-in for $200 - easy fold...

showdown he wins with a better ace high :/
probably still made the correct move at the time mind you but just pisses me off that people think AK is such a strong hand!

Catching the perfect turn card is always nice too :)

http://www.pokerhand.org/?755762

Bankroll: $2821

$2/$4 NL

So i decided to play one table of $2/$4 today to see what it was like.

I bought in for just $300 and quickly went down to about $220 from one pot.
I got re-raised out of another pot with a shortstack going all-in for about $60 more to me where i woulda got the nuts (flush) but it was probably still the right play to fold QKs.

I won a pot of $180 calling the shortstacks all-in (he was pushing with all sorts of hands) but i cracked his KK with AJ hitting my ace!

Then i had a good spell and caught some good flops;

http://www.pokerhand.org/?755522
http://www.pokerhand.org/?755524

So anyway i finished the 30min session $453 up which is always nice - having only played 20hands!

Bankroll: $2564

Starting off 2007

Well i started off 2007 with a bankroll of $1000 that i had built up from playing tons of 18player S&G's on Stars.

However i went through a bad spell and in the first week of January i lost all of it playing a huge ammount of $27 and $55 S&G's each day, i just couldnt cash in them like i used to be able to.

I decided to give up on the sit and go's for the moment and focus more on cash games (where i made money more consistantly, but less). At that time i was playing .25/.50 micro limits and making small profits.
I moved upto the $1/$2 game and took the risk. I made about $1000 in a week so i got my bankroll back and could now play 4 tables of 200NL (still risky) but making decent profits.

So iv been playing 1/2 and grinding it out. In the last 2 weeks im up $2395 after some down days but a lot more up days so im quite happy at the moment.

My current bankroll now stands at $2111 as i took some money out to buy a laptop (my current poker profit is $2227)

Basically this blog is for me to keep track of my progress and to see my bankroll increase!
At the moment im making quite a lot each week but im gonna try and make around $800 each week, thats probably what i would expect from a normal job so thats abut right!

Bankroll: $2111
